Why you should build a robust contact list in Notion

A Notion template you can use to get started with much of this functionality (not the “you need to follow up / events” stuff, but has the core data, spaced repetition, strategic partners and holiday cards).

Is Notion really secure enough to expose all your clients on the internet? I’d be curious to know what people think.

That’s a fair question. I take two approaches to it:

1 – Yes, they seem to have their security in shape. This thread on Reddit talks about it quite a bit: https://www.reddit.com/r/NotionSo/comments/bmwpip/concerns_about_notionso_security/

To take that further, how secure is ContactsPlus (or other contact managers) relative to Notion?

2 – As a general rule, I don’t put super sensitive info into Notion (such as passwords). Having a list of my clients leak out would be bad, but their contact info is mostly public anyhow. I’d be upset if it happened, but it wouldn’t be a huge deal.

I’m also curious to hear what others think.

I agree with your point on #2.

The only sensitive data is my finances but I would not be too upset if it got out somewhere. You’ll know I like to eat out a lot.

Hi Mickey, great work on this, and thank you for the insight and templates. I’m curious – I downloaded the contacts template, but I see that it has the spaced repetition component in it for memorization. Is that on purpose? Any possibility you have done a template for the Active Clients DB you are using?

No need to responde to that, btw, as I created my own,, combining some of your concepts, including the Last/Next Contact fields, along with some product DB integration for monthly and annual value.

Excellent. My setup has become pretty complex with so many database relationships, that it’s tricky to share pieces of it. My hope is exactly what you did — you can grab some templates, and then spend a bit of your own time to configure it how you need it.

    Mickey,

How do you create customized views? II have a database with a category column (drop down options and a tag column (drop-down menu) I would like to create several different views for each of the categories and tags.

How do you create customized views based on your filter search in your database?

How do I link the formula field (for next date of follow up) directly to the task list in my action zone?

It would depend on how things are set up, but for me I simply add it as another “linked database” on my home screen. My home screen consists of a few buckets of linked databases, each filtered to only show the items I need to work on that day. It adds a bit of clutter, since it’s a few separate databases being pulled in, but it works well. I suspect yours would be cleaner, I’m just not sure how to make it work.

I’m still stuck at how you deal with multiple contacts at the same company. Someone needs to do a basic “How to do an address book” and relate that to CRM, lead processing, and contacts. Can’t find it anywhere.
Oh, and how do I transfer something like status with several multi-selects to another DB or page or do I have to retype the selections each time I create the field in another page or DB?
