How to use Notion as a content calendar

November 17, 2019 By greenmellen 15 Comments

Planning out your content is essential, whether it’s social media, blog posts, podcasts, videos, or anything else. Notion has some great ways to organize that content, and this video shows them to you.

You can download this Notion template for yourself here.

Hey, this is great thanks – I’ve downloaded the template. I’m just wondering if as an agency you set this up for each acct you manage or do you have a Master that you use for all channels?
Trying to decide how best to make this work.
    Thanks,
    Anna

In our case, this is just for us. If we managed clients through it, I’d likely add a tag for each client (or a database relation to a “client database”, if you have such as thing) and then have various filters set up to see each client.

That way, you could see the full calendar for each client, but then also filter down to see your tasks for the day (“post x to y for z”, “post a to b for c”, etc).

What happens when you click “duplicate” in the top bar when it’s open?

I love this template. Thank you so much! I am brand new to Notion and using it is helping me understand how the program works.

My one question is that with all of your social content in this calendar, how to you push it to the individual platforms. Do you just copy/paste out of this calendar to instagram, fb, etc. , when you want to publish?

Yes, we copy/paste. Notion doesn’t have an API yet so there’s no easy way to automate it, but I also believe that unless you’re managing tons of social accounts and need to shave seconds, it’s better to post manually and really doesn’t take long.

Would really love to see an API that enables sharing with social management tools, such as Buffer or Later. There is really no tool out there (yet) which provides the ability to set up a complete content workflow in this manner, and we’d sure love to!

Agreed! Once their API comes out, the possibilities will open WAY up.

Great template! Thanks! Is there a way to show more of the post properties for each item in the calendar view?

Yep, you should be able to show any of the properties that you’d like.

Great template, Is there a way to have this connected to a design workflow in notion? So if timings on assets get pushed it can move out the post in the calendar?
